on the last evening of the weekend
I’m overwhelmed with gratefulness
it was an ordinary, wonderful weekend
a Nancy Drew party, laundry- always the laundry,
Cheese Cake Factory, Chima lego looking,
Christmas shopping, Thanksgiving grocery gathering,
introducing the kids to Captain Jack Sparrow,
tree trimming, coffee drinking wonderful weekend

this was taken at Graham’s third birthday just days after closing in 2010
when we bought the house, we knew there was a lot of work to do
the location and square footage were perfect but it was 80s fantabulous
the kitchen was the worst with the horrible floors, lighting, cabinets, appliances everything
first we fixed the drop ceiling lighting, then the floors, then painted walls and cabinets
it was a work in progress for so very long….
as time and money allowed, we worked bit by bit
and now the AFTER
I am so very pleased with the results
but now I am very much in need of a nap
Neil Diamond, Raccoons, and Glasses not to mention a Stove

things have been wild, busy, and wacky….
in the last two days, I have attended five hours of professional development after work
one of these included various and sundry sports analogies and a Neil Diamond impression
really, I wish I was making this stuff up
Ava girl has new glasses that suit her sassy self…
Just in time to be dramatic about a raccoon report that will
go on her “permanent record”
and we have a new stove- She’s a jewel of a gal that goes by Maude (cause it’s not weird to name your appliances, right?)
more fun is coming soon to the kitchen and I may be so excited that sleep is difficult!
lovely surprises

this greeted me on my way to work…
so stunning I pulled over
then I heard a little voice in the back seat
praying a thank you to God
and asking for the day to be filled
with more “lovely suprises”
