so here is the horrible laundry room
and weird wet bar in living room
even burlap can’t disguise this eye sore
it became the craft, game, anything that didn’t have a home bar
check out the paneling and drop ceiling- Klassy with a “K”
demo begins
and continues
and with work, and babies, and sickness….the going is slow
painfully, I can’t live like this slow
Saint Joe and 400 trips to Home Depot
in between demo phases, I clean and try to wash a few loads of clothes
almost wall in living room
Joey really loves for me to take his picture, looooves it
“just stand here and hold this crazy heavy bead board over your head”
um, no
trim out ceiling, ceiling paint, demo the floor, sand the sheetrock, patch, sand again,
install tile, paint walls, install sink, build shelves, built-in desk, and new high-efficiency washer and dryer

it sounds like the beginning of a bad joke…….
through the driving rain, in walks parent with a piercing.
granola- no make-up parent, and parent reeking of smoke
welcome to a tiny room with 14 parents, 14 girls, and 4 little brothers
………hades, people, hades ….just the Girl Scout version of it
granola parent’s young son taught my five-year old several new slang words
for his male annatomy…..there were gasps and giggles
I tried to navigate the packed room, tripping over chairs to grab my kid
glares from the kid offender’s mom…..really lady, such a mouth on such a small child
an hour and a half later it was over
all I can say is sweet Jesus, have mercy and send me a snow day!!!

the day starts out with lots of this
and “an epic battle” in the playroom
followed by breakfast in pink footed pjs
the start to a great day
I have several hours alone, ahhh
I shower and even get to shave both legs
(not that I ever run out of time and only do one, I’m way to on the ball for that)
tonight will be dinner with no kid menu in sight
I admit I have a very low threshold for excitement
but still it promises to be a very good day

this weekend, I left the house once, pretended I was allergic to cleaning, and wore various combos of sweats and yoga pants
it was wonderful
today we took G for a pediatric cardiologist follow-up
“all is well, come back in three years”
it’s just that “little detail” of a standard deviation and a half from average,
this guy drew me a chart- I didn’t tell him how well acquainted I am with the normal curve
really guy, no chart needed
tomorrow, I have six meetings and my TEAM evaluation
prayers, prehaps?

several hard weeks pile up
diseases and cures maim kids
I have a front row seat to a tragedy I don’t want to see
and I burn the dinner from Trader Joe’s that I only have to heat up
I skip small group and cancel appointments
I read in check out lines and at stop lights
I can’t seem to sleep enough, ever
never enough sleep
and yet there are graces all around me
her hand brings me this, held behind her back, grin so very wide
he simply says, “for your desk”
he buys flowers for the little miss, too
and we both smile at her delight
and God is good
and tomorrow is a new day
and he says he likes burnt pot stickers
and what I see and feel is not all that there is
and the tragedy is part of a fairytale still being written
and I believe in the midst of my unbelief, I believe

Graham’s room got a new addition this weekend
G and Joey dreamed up a castle bed/ playhouse
a little trip to home depot and of course a bogan
G was thrilled
and had to help
they decided the bed would be the draw bridge
I had safety concerns but the top part is fastened so with any weight, the rope drops
Graham is in little boy, knight, off to fight dragons heaven!
We still need to paint walls, update window treatment, and build him a better bookshelf
but overall not bad for a days work.
And yes, Joey is a rock star dad and husband!

A was super excited to share that a kid in her class was sent home with chicken pox
G may have come home with a note about using forks to sword fight in the cafeteria
An adult may have sucked her thumb in a professional meeting I attended
