We’ve been savoring the last few days of break.  Having a playdate in pjs is always a good idea.

A and G were feeling artsy

Who doesn’t need a snow globe with a veggie/plant person inside?

These animal kits came from the dollar tree

My artists love to paint (more dollar tree crafts)

Ava insisted that a tea party was a must for today.  She set the table, planned the menu, and made the tea sandwiches.  Munchkins are high-class don’t you know.

Special guests Annabelle and Little Sweetheart

The kids squealed in delight when they saw the sprinkles on the applesauce.

I will miss this when it takes more to impress them.

Lest you have an unrealistic view of our happy home time, the following statements are a sampling from today:

Yikes, we do not sit naked on the carpet.

No throwing glitter glue.

There are no tea party police.

Please don’t lick your hand before handing me food.

Underwear is non-negotiable because I’m the mom and I say so.

Scoop’d

This girl is turning seven soon.  This year her party was at Scoop’d in Turkey Creek.

Fabulous ice cream sunday cupcakes by Jennifer Morton-this girls has skills.

Ava got to make a batch of chocolate ice cream.  Foodie Heaven for her mom!

This face says it all!

The girls made their own sundaes with marshmallows, Reese cups, sprinkles, Oreos, fudge, caramel, cherries and whipped cream.

I think this is the first party of the 11, I’ve hosted for my kids that I really enjoyed!

So nice to not cook, clean, or all that jazz!

Such sweet, sweet girls and little brother too.

Thanks Scoop’d!  We’ll be back soon!

Frogtastic

Last Saturday found Ava searching for the perfect rocks

To make a special gift for Mrs. Frear

Frogs are the classroom mascot

The note had no less than four hearts and said, “Mrs. Frear, You’re Frogtastick!!!”

Yes Ava, she is!  We are so thankful for the wonderful staff at Farragut Primary!

This zaney girl started first grade this week.

There were plenty of butterflies the first day.  A reported that first grade is “cool-a-rific” and “adorably cute”.  Amen to that.

It’s been a busy week full of meetings, parents night, and birthday parties.

Overjoyed to sleep in this morning.  It’s amazing that after nearly 7 years of parenting, this is now an option- I’m loving it!  We went to Meet the Fleet.  One sweet boy was in heaven!  Way to go town of Farragut.

G started a new preschool class this week.  His teacher reports that the class is lively and strong-willed.

Welcome to my world I wanted to say.  Life is lunch boxes, art projects, backpacks, and permission slips right now-and it’s good.

Artful Living

My kids love to create.   We have an art cabinet, an art basket,  art buckets, and a craft bar (post for another day).

We were up to our ears in artwork.  Raise your hand if you’ve had to sneak your kid’s papers into the trash late at night.  I came up with this solution for our kitchen.  I used a curtain rod and sliding clips we already had.  The masterpieces are changed out every few days.

Just a few of the creations this week

A made this mask with grosgrain ribbon today.   I think she was going for purple gorilla look.

Watercolor by G.

A circa 2006.

A vintage 2010.

A’s handy work vintage 2008.  These paintings make me smile every time I walk past.  It fits my design philosophy of using what you love in your home.  Each time I look at these it reminds me of the little hands and perspectives that designed them.  I’m striving to really appreciate my children’s story as it unfolds.   I’m so very grateful to be part of it.

We’re having a few friends drop by later so I asked my six-year-old to pick up the playroom.

Pretty good effort.  Can you spot what’s wrong?  Other than the fact I need hardwood floors and crown molding?

My sweet girl staged an attack!  Poor Mickey.

After I put her brother down for a nap, I tripped over a Disney princess tea cart.  The cart was heavily laden with culinary delights:   pudding cups (lightly sampled), apple sauce, and bananas along with this note.  It reads, “I am sorry I woke you.  I wanted to give you this”.  The Force is strong with this one.  Her flare for drama comes from her daddy’s side.
