We are loving summer!  Home made Milky Way ice cream screams summer to me.  My aunt Suzan made this every 4th of July for us.  Melt 12, that’s right 12 Milky Way candy bars, with 1 can Hershey’s syrup, and 1 can sweetened condensed milk.  Add enough whole milk to reach the fill line in your ice cream freezer, plug in and be prepared to be pleased.

So things have been a little wild around here with new little shop and A’s swim team EVERY day.  I cook most nights but lunch is a free for all of pb&j, leftovers, and drive throughs.  But Hubs is off work and handling swim team so I decided to surprise my crew with a real meal.  They were shocked.  Meet the cast of characters:

The marinade (Olive oil, apple cider vinegar, garlic salt, soy sauce, Worcestershire, lime, and horseradish)

Flank steak cut across the grain

    Cute carrots from the garden

Sweet red pepper and Broccoli slaw- my kids have no idea this is in fact broccoli

Archer Farm Brand asparagus risotto (amazing-you must try this)

One- Brown the meat and set aside.

Two- add veggies and marinade

Three-add a Tlbs. or so cornstarch

  Let it simmer, baby.

Yum and I’m off the hook for supper!

 Remember this?

Now it looks like this.

And this, Which made me hungry.

So I gathered the troops.

For this:  Happiness is a tomato, basil, mayo sandwich.

Only better if we had bacon in the house, yes pig flesh, sooo tasty.  I like to live on the edge.

It’s not weird to spend three hours testing out recipes for next week on Memorial Day, right? I think we have a winner: Meet Miss May- a key lime mini cupcake filled with home-made key lime curd (thank you very much) and topped with lime buttercream, iridescent sugar, and lime zest. She will be meeting and greeting on June 4th at Design Narrative. It feels good to score in the kitchen after the Oreo fiasco.

So it’s a quite Sunday morning, hubs and children are sleeping. I make coffee and drink in the joy of alone time. Then I decide to make a fun, little crafty for sister turning 30 today. Two bags of oreos and enough curses to rival a mass of drunken sailors, This is the end result. Two words, Never Again! Kelley
