I See Silouettes

I’ve always wanted silhouettes of my kiddos but I’m too cheap to pay to have them done professionally

I decided today was the day.  Not perfect but southern, traditional, and fun- and who doesn’t love a good oval frame?

Obviously not a silouette but had to share:

I made this necklace using antique letter press for stamping and my babies’ thumbprints

I made these charms by shrinking down the silhouettes I cut out using profile pictures of A and G.

I broke out the resin for the first time for these.

The jury is still out on how it will set up, I’ll keep you posted.

Spring Break Sangria

To celebrate nine days of spring break, a few girlies stopped by Friday.

Enter in Spring Break Sangria with peaches, raspberries, and strawberries.  Good Times for sure!

Kickoff was at 4 so I kept the food super working girl friendly:

Major fun and as I fell asleep Friday night,

I kept thinking how amazing it is to work with people who you enjoy so much

you want to hang out with them after work.

I am thankful for you girls!

And the Hubs who took the kids on a daddy date so I could have fun.

Saturday find us making pancakes, little feet dancing in the background

Don’t know why, but I keep the play dough in the pantry.  As I was getting it down, pasta crashed everywhere.

We made good use of it

First porcupines then of course, star wars ships

whiskers for A

Wish I’d thought of pasta/play dough combo before- hours o fun

March is a little late for pansies but I couldn’t resist

Love the color on my porch-

Good times with pancakes, pansies, and porcupines.

My Political Career

I don’t have the stomach for politics.  The pretense and posturing are just too much for me.  With that said, I may reconsider……

It’s been another wild week with heavy loads to shoulder.  Then sweet Ava comes in my office and tells me she’s written about me.

My day turned on a dime.

Here is Alice in Wonderland-who rocked her school read-a-thon!

Oh and other good news bye-bye brass fire box!

Five for Five

So I have this friend who is an artist.

She’s creative and has all that the artistic temperament brings.  She feels and thinks deeply.

The gift brings the burden.

My artist friend is always thinking of others.  She creates cards, posters, and gifts of encouragement for others.  Today I had a chance to return the favor in a very small way.  I had fun coming up with a little gifty.

Less than five dollars and five minutes to assemble

It made me think, I don’t even know if five people read this blog.

But if they do, what if this week, five of us take the five for five challenge:

Five minutes, five dollars or less, and bless someone with a gift, prayer, or note.

Let me know if you’re in.

A fab friend took me to an incredible little antique shop

These treasures came home with me.

Major fun finding the letter-press set,

but more fun knowing that my friend knew I’d love it

winter

A spent afternoon with sweet friends ice skating.

Here they are doing the BFF chant.  Let’s just say A inherited my athletic ability- poor, poor girl.

I’ve spent the rest of the weekend chugging Gatorade, watching Indie films, and nursing a deep respiratory infection.

My one creative endeavor appalled my children.  Secretly I’m thrilled they are bibliophiles!

With weather in the 60s this week, it’s been full of popsicle grins

We were signed up for a parenting conference this weekend.

We flaked out and chose Little Joe’s Pizza and pjs instead.

Good call as babies are croupy, week with off the wall work stuff, and down time deficit

I woke up today and decided to be domestic.

Something about coffee and cooking while it’s raining outside, and knowing that I won’t be wearing eye make-up today fills me with a really mellow, sweet kind of joy.

Asparagus and yellow pepper quiche with cheddar was the first on the block

Hot cocoa in polka dot cups….good stuff

Red and yellow peppers in line for soup later

Next was ricotta spinach filling for stuffed shells tonight

Home made marinara with organic canned tomatoes from the garden for previously stated stuffed shells

Meanwhile I’m roasting potatoes for skins for the game tomorrow.

Just sent the boys out for more groceries, I’m on a roll

And I’m thanking God for many blessings in my messy kitchen
