inspired by pinterest, I made a little sunshine to brighten up my day

it was so fun to actually play artist instead of just cleaning up art supplies

it’s totally normal to spend hours sorting legos, right?

when G asked for help reconstructing his castle after a T-Rex incident

I just couldn’t help myself, ah so much better!

The rock pile at our house has provided hours and hours of fun for the kiddos.  I decided to try baking rocks as mentioned on the Artful Parent site.

Although it sounds like a recipe for disaster, it was quite enjoyable and no one lost an eye!

I baked the rocks at 300 for 10 minutes on a cookie sheet then transferred to these muffin tins.  A and G used old crayons to color the tops.

The end result was swirly, impressionistic rock art.  Rock on creative kids!

Exhibit A:  1990s builder grade boob light replaced by

Exhibit B:  funky, vintage chandie from a friend =

Exhibit C:  One happy Kelley

In previous the post, we established my political aspirations:

If made president or queen, after abolishing human trafficking, ending world poverty/hunger, and establishing legislation to triple educators’ salaries, I’d do away with all boob lights everywhere!

Greenery from Sycamore Springs

Plus Hobby Lobby

Equals arrangements for the School Psycho party.

Somehow I was drafted to the social committee this year.  Go ahead and make an “Office” joke.  I was asked to come up with party games- um, no.  I always tell Joey I don’t do trust falls and group hugs.

So I made these instead

much more my speed

now it’s clean up time.  party on school psychs!

The kiddos were feeling crafty Saturday.  After a hot date to a funeral Friday night, I was in the mood for a low-key day as well.  No one (except Joey who had to be a pall bearer) got out of pjs.  Need more of that in my life.

A and G mixed equal parts glue and shaving cream to make snowman puffy paint (thanks, pinterest!)

Yes, Graham, breakfast crumbs, chocolate chap stick, and Hulk pjs are a winning combo.

A made no less than 14 paintings.  To bad I didn’t have any blue or black construction paper.   Would love the white against that background.

Another pinterest inspiration, reported to the best hand cream ever.

Challenge Excepted.

My kitchen has never been softer or smelled more like a baby bum.  Fun Times.

Pinterest Power

True confession time:  I spend WAY too much time on pinterest.  It’s almost an addiction.  I justify it by saying it inspires me and reminds me that there is much beauty in the world.  It feels good to do something with all that inspiration:  I redid my fall mantle yesterday.

We made this family tree with handprints after seeing a similar one on pinterest.

It’s messy, wild, and has my babies handprints- love it!

Fall Indian corn arrangement via Aunt Suzan and Sycamore Springs Farm.

Candy Corn hurricane glasses via pinterest.  Need wider candles but just used what I had.

Never met a bunting I didn’t like.   Super fun to make.

Today my heart is full, I’m counting my blessings:

sleeping late, Joey made coffee, fall break, time to create and breath and just be.  God’s gifts all.
